My back's been messed up for years and my physical therapist recommended one of those percussion massage guns for muscle recovery. Look it up — the "medical grade" ones are $400-600, come with a pamphlet about "myofascial release," and half of them need an app. Meanwhile I'm scrolling Amazon and find the literal same motor, same attachments, in a case marked for "pet grooming and deshedding," for $38. Same RPM.

Same stall force. Company just slapped a golden retriever on the box instead of a guy in a lab coat and cut the price by 90%. Been using it on my shoulders for three months. Works exactly the same. My dog's coat has also never looked better, so really it's a two-for-one. Get rekt, wellness industrial complex.

Was walking into the grocery store yesterday and this guy in a giant lifted truck pulls into the compact spot right next to the cart corral, taking up basically two spaces, engine revving like he's about to win a race against absolutely nobody. I parked normally, walked past him, and just went "nice parking job!" with a big thumbs up. He goes "it's a truck, it doesn't fit in those tiny spots."

I said "totally get it, that's why there's truck-sized spots right over there" and pointed to the empty rows about 15 feet away. He just stared at me. I smiled and walked inside. Came out twenty minutes later and he was STILL there, hadn't moved, just sitting in his truck on his phone. I walked past, waved, and said "still doesn't fit I guess!" He didn't even look up this time. Just flipped his blinker on aggressively like that was going to intimidate me somehow.

10/10, no regrets, would absolutely point out bad parking to a stranger's face again.

Manager: "We've updated the overtime approval policy." New Hire: "Okay, what changed?" Manager: "Any work done outside your scheduled hours needs pre-approval, or it won't be paid." New Hire: "So if I stay late, I need to ask first?" Manager: "Correct." New Hire: "Got it. Makes sense." A few days later, New Hire got an urgent Slack message at 6:45pm, after his 6pm shift end, asking him to fix a broken deployment.

New Hire: "Sure, give me a sec to get approval for the overtime." Manager: "Just fix it, we'll sort the paperwork later." New Hire: "The policy says pre-approval." Manager: "This is an emergency." New Hire: "Understood." He fixed it. Took 40 minutes. The next day, he submitted the overtime for approval, after the fact. Manager: "You can't submit this after the work was already done." New Hire: "You told me to just fix it." Manager: "That's different." New Hire: "How?" Manager: "It was urgent."

New Hire: "So urgent things skip the approval step?" Manager: "No. You still needed approval." New Hire: "From who? You were the one who asked me to do it." Manager: "You should have gotten it in writing." New Hire: "You messaged me in writing. It's right here." Manager: "That's not a formal approval." New Hire: "What's a formal approval?" Manager: "The overtime request form." New Hire: "The one that takes 24 hours to process?" Manager: "Yes."

New Hire: "So during an emergency, I should've told you to wait a day for the form before I could fix the outage." Manager: "You're twisting this." New Hire: "I'm reading it back to you."

Y'all I need to tell you about the chaos that just went down at my mechanic's shop because I genuinely don't know how a brake check turned into this. I don't usually post long stories but here we go. My car's been making a noise for a week, so I finally take it in Tuesday to a shop I found nearby, not my usual guy, he was booked out two weeks.

I explain the noise, the guy (owner, I think) says it's probably the brake pads, quotes me $280, I say fine, do it, I need the car by Friday for a trip. Friday comes. I go pick it up. Pay the bill, get in the car, pull out of the lot... same noise. Exact same noise. So I turn around and go back. Me: "Hey, this is the same sound I came in with." Him: visibly annoyed "We replaced the pads. That's what you asked for." Me: "Right, but the noise is still happening, so something's still wrong?"

He goes and grabs this little flashlight, shoves it at me, and says "Here. Look yourself if you don't believe me." I'm like... sir I'm not a mechanic, that's why I'm at a mechanic. Me: "I'm not saying I don't believe you, I'm saying the problem isn't fixed. Can someone take a listen?" He huffs, gets one of the techs, they drive it around back for two minutes, come back and go "sounds fine to us." Me: "It's doing it right now, can you hear that?" Guy goes "I don't hear anything."

Doesn't even get closer to the car. Just says it from ten feet away. At this point I'm still calm, I just say "Ok, well I need this actually fixed before Friday, I have a trip. Can someone look at it properly?" He says "We already looked at it. You want us to look again, that's another labor charge." I said "I just paid $280 for the original problem to still be there, I'm not paying another labor charge to fix what you already charged me to fix."
