New Hire: "Sure, give me a sec to get approval for the overtime." Manager: "Just fix it, we'll sort the paperwork later." New Hire: "The policy says pre-approval." Manager: "This is an emergency." New Hire: "Understood." He fixed it. Took 40 minutes. The next day, he submitted the overtime for approval, after the fact. Manager: "You can't submit this after the work was already done." New Hire: "You told me to just fix it." Manager: "That's different." New Hire: "How?" Manager: "It was urgent."
