The Organization for Transformative Works (OTW) is a non-profit organization run by and for fans to preserve and protect transformative fanworks and fan cultures in their myriad forms. We believe that fanworks are transformative and that transformative works are legitimate.
Our goal is to support and encourage fans and fandoms everywhere through platforms such as the Archive of Our Own and Fanlore, and services such as Legal Advocacy, fannish material preservation through Open Doors, and academic publications through Transformative Works and Cultures.
To accomplish these goals, the OTW is led by a Board of Directors who oversees Committees who work on various aspects of the OTW’s mission.
It is thanks to the contributions of our dedicated volunteers that we can provide a free and safe place for fandoms and fannish cultures both on and offline. If you’re interested in contributing to the OTW, consider donating, volunteering, or supporting us in other ways.
