I'm the founder of the Applicative Systems Group and Nixcademy. We help software organizations deliver higher quality, faster, through consulting, hands-on development, CI/CD automation, and corporate training on Nix & NixOS.
- π§ Nix/NixOS (user since 2015): Maintainer of the NixOS Integration Test Driver in nixpkgs. I speak regularly about Nix at conferences like NixCon, Planet Nix, SCALE, and emBO++ and write about it for heise online.
- βοΈ C++ & systems programming: Author of the C++17 STL Cookbook. Background in hypervisors, embedded systems (x86-64/ARM), and low-level development on Linux (my daily driver since 2003). I also wrote about CPU vulnerability research (Meltdown, Zombieload & friends) as co-founder of Cyberus Technology GmbH.
- Ξ» Strong type systems: I enjoy using metaprogramming in C++ and Haskell, as well as PureScript. The goal is to "define entire categories of errors out of existence".
- π CI/CD & test infrastructure: Reproducible builds, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and fast deployment pipelines.
Shift errors left. Catching problems at compile time is cheaper and faster than getting them out of production.
Control complexity. Clear boundaries, minimal surface area, composable abstractions.
Automate confidence. Infrastructure as code, no moving parts in the deployment that can go wrong.
Build software that lasts. Good architecture ends up being cheaper and more effective.
