Meta View app is now the Meta AI mobile app
Q: Why is the Meta View app changing?
A: We are updating the Meta View app to the Meta AI mobile app, which will include additional AI features that enhance your Ray-Ban Meta glasses experience.
In addition to the same companion app features you’re familiar with, you’ll now have access to the Meta AI* assistant directly in the app and on your Ray-Ban Meta glasses. The Meta AI assistant is now even more intuitive, conversational and tailored to you and your interests. You can also engage with others and learn how they are getting the most out of Meta AI through the Discover feed.
*Certain Meta AI features only available in select countries and languages. Meta AI not available on Ray-Ban Stories.
Q: How to get the new Meta AI mobile app?
A: Update your Meta View app to the latest version, which you can download from the App Store and Google Play.
Note: The new app version will be available for download but new features may roll out slowly over time.
Q: Is this update available across all markets and operating systems?
A: The latest version of the app will become available in all markets and operating systems (iOS and Android) where the Meta View app is currently available. However, new Meta AI features in the app will only be available in select countries and languages.
Q: What will happen to your photos and videos? Where will you be able to access them?
A: Once you update to the Meta AI mobile app, your paired devices, settings and media will automatically transfer over. You can access your imported media on the Devices tab. Imported photos can also be found in the new “Meta AI” folder in your mobile device photo gallery. If you’re using a cloud backup for your media like Google Photos, make sure to update settings to back up the new Meta AI device folder.
Q: What kind of new features will you have on the Meta AI mobile app?
A: With the Meta AI mobile app, you can get personalized AI assistance and inspiration.
- Meta AI*: You now have access to Meta AI, a personal, voice-first assistant available directly in the app. Meta AI can remember your preferences to give you more tailored responses. When you import photos captured from your glasses into the Meta AI mobile app, you can ask Meta AI in the app to tell you more about the photo, or get creative and ask it to add, remove, or change parts of your photos.
- Discover feed: Get inspired by how others are using Meta AI, and remix any of the prompts you see in your feed to try them yourself. Learn new ways to get the most out of Meta AI and your glasses.
- History tab: See your past AI prompts on your glasses and Meta AI mobile app in one place.
- Notifications tab: Get notified from in-app events like when someone remixes your AI prompts, and device-specific events such as updates or reminders.
- Devices Home tab: Your destination to pair and manage your glasses, import and share your photos and videos, and learn about new features. You can now pair up to 7 devices with the Meta AI mobile app.
Q: Why are some of the AI features not available on your glasses or in the Meta AI mobile app?
A: We are working on expanding AI availability on Ray-Ban Meta glasses to additional countries. Feature availability can vary based on location, and if you are using the Meta AI mobile app or Ray-Ban Meta glasses.
Q: What is a Meta AI profile?
A: After updating the app, you’ll be asked to create a Meta AI username (required) and provide your first and last name (optional). Your Meta AI username is how you show up on the Meta AI mobile app and web experience (Meta.ai). Your Meta AI profile information is publicly visible when you share AI prompts to the Discover feed, or interact with others’ posts. Your interactions with Meta AI are private by default unless you choose to share them to the feed.
Q: Where can you access and manage your AI conversations?
A: Past AI prompts from your Ray-Ban Meta glasses and in the Meta AI mobile app will be available in the History tab in the app. You can also visit Meta.ai on your browser to view your past prompt history.
AI prompt history from your glasses and the Meta AI mobile app will not be available in other destinations with Meta AI integrations such as Facebook, Instagram, and Whatsapp.
Q: Who can see your Meta AI conversations in the app?
A: Your conversations with Meta AI are not public unless you choose to share them to the Discover feed.
Q: What settings are changing with this app update?
A: Meta AI with camera use is already set up. You can say "Hey Meta" to access your glasses' camera with your voice. For requests like asking about what you see, an image may be captured to help provide a response. Disabling “Hey Meta” will deactivate this feature.
Meta AI voice conversations are stored by default when using Meta AI and may be used to improve AI at Meta and other Meta products. The option to disable voice recordings storage is no longer available, but you can delete recordings anytime in Settings in the Meta AI mobile app. Learn more about how we use your voice recordings, transcripts, and related data as explained in our Voice Privacy Notice.
Q: How to report a bug or give feedback about this app update?
A: Shake your phone while the app is open and tap Report a Bug if you run into any issues.
Q: Are Ray-Ban Stories still supported on the Meta AI mobile app?
A: Yes, Ray-Ban Stories will continue to be supported.
Q: Can you manage your glasses on the Meta.ai website?
A: No, you will not be able to pair and manage your glasses on Meta.ai, and thus will not have the ability to manage device settings or controls, view imported photos, see ongoing timer, etc.
Q: Will the iPad app be updated with new features?
A: While the Meta View app will be updated with the Meta AI mobile app name on iPad, the Meta AI assistant will not be available directly in the iPad app, and future Meta devices will not be supported. However, the iPad app will continue to support Ray-Ban Meta and Ray-Ban Stories glasses.
