Christian Saunders liked thisEarlier this week ProShop shared something we’ve been working on for a minute: we’ve completed an independent assessment of our environment against the FedRAMP Moderate baseline, conducted by a FedRAMP-recognized 3PAO. I'm proud of the team that made it happen and even more excited about what it means for the shops we serve. The shops we serve make critical parts for defense, aerospace, and medical. They're extraordinary at what they do on the shop floor. But they’re being asked to do more than ever off the floor. Building a cloud hosting environment that meets the FedRAMP Moderate security baseline — something DFARS 252.204-7012 requires — is an infrastructure problem that has nothing to do with the core competency of machine shops. But it has everything to do with whether these shops get to keep doing defense work. That's not a fair fight. And it's the problem we set out to solve. With this assessment, ProShop customers can store, process, and transmit CUI inside an environment that's been independently assessed to meet the same security standard the federal government requires of its own cloud providers. They don't have to build it. They don't have to maintain it. They can focus on making parts. The timing matters too. The Department of War suspended CMMC Phase II for 60 days last week, but the same release reaffirmed every underlying DFARS obligation. The shops that use this window to get their posture right will be the ones still winning work when the dust settles. Compliance shouldn't be a barrier that keeps good shops out of defense work. It should be a standard that everyone can reach. Today we got a little closer to that. Christian Saunders liked thisAfter months of hard work and late nights, I'm proud to share that ProShop ERP has completed its assessment against the FedRAMP Moderate baseline, demonstrating equivalency in line with the DoD memo requirements for cloud service providers handling CUI. To be clear, this is FedRAMP Moderate equivalency, not a FedRAMP authorization or ATO, it means an independent assessment found our environment meets the FedRAMP Moderate controls as the DoD memo requires. This is one of the hardest frameworks I've worked through in my career, not just meeting every applicable control, but building the whole thing from the ground up with tight timelines. It takes real discipline across an entire organization, not just security. Huge thanks to the team who lived this alongside me. This milestone means our CNC and manufacturing clients handling sensitive data can trust that the platform protecting their work is assessed against a federal standard. On to the next one. #ProShopERP #CMMC #CUI #Cybersecurity #Manufacturing #LFG

The 25-foot bright orange streamer, designed to enhance rescue operations with military-grade lights, had already racked up $15 million in lifetime sales through military contracts. But despite its potential, the Sharks passed, citing limited consumer appeal. Fast forward to 2020, and See Rescue Streamer made a stunning comeback—featured in SpaceX’s historic launch! With upgraded, brighter lights and widespread media attention from CNN and Discovery, the product found its place in both military and outdoor enthusiast circles. It's a bittersweet moment - I've never been one to relish changing jobs (who wants to put themselves through interviewing that often?!), but when opportunity comes knocking, sometimes you just have to say yes. I want to extend a huge thank you to my leader and champion Sarah Laughlin for giving me the room to run with this role - from conquering Rippling, to reworking onboarding - my goal was always to leave this team in a better place. I hope I've been successful at that. To the team at ProShop ERP - you have such a bright future and I can't wait to see what comes next with all the incredible work being done right now. As for what lies ahead for me, I'll share that when the time is right but you can bet I'll still be as obsessed with improving employee experience and championing people operations like it's (literally) my job 😉

💥 I convinced a dev team to DELETE their staging environment. Their response: "You're insane. We'll break production constantly." The results 18 months later: 15.3x more reliable deployments, $115K+ savings, and zero regrets. The figures don't lie - I've documented everything - metrics, charts, infrastructure costs: LIVE DEMO ON MY GITHUB 👉 https://lnkd.in/dNffSC8d Here's exactly how I helped the team to get there 👇 ▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░ STEPS 1️⃣ Setup staging environment 2️⃣ Code & write serious tests 3️⃣ Auto build & test with CI (Continuous Integration) 4️⃣ Prod deploy with MANUAL TRIGGER ⏸️ 5️⃣ Setup feature environments 6️⃣ Integrate feature environments lifecycle in the CI 7️⃣ Prod deploy becomes AUTOMATIC FOR EACH MERGE 🚀 8️⃣ Delete staging environment 🗑️ We finally got a real CD (Continuous Deployment) RESULTS ✅ 15.3x more reliable deployments (5.9% → 90.6% completion rate) ✅ 57.3% faster deployment times (6.5 → 2.8 days average) ✅ $115K+ estimated savings for devs and data scientists ✅ 926+ business days saved ✅ 50-60% reduction in pipeline failures THE REAL CHALLENGE "Delete staging? That's very risky - we'll break things more often!" The biggest obstacle was psychological - not technical. Fun fact: to get the final approval I created a maintenance that never got used until today ! Breaking classic boundaries and adopting a cutting-edge mindset requires courage. But to stay competitive, you must deploy on-demand. ▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░▓▒░ And you, how do you challenge conventional wisdom in your deployments? what's your secret weapon? 🔫

Moving from HCP Terraform (Terraform Cloud / TFC) doesn't have to be a manual slog. If you’ve been holding off on migrating your infrastructure because you dread the thought of writing one-off migration scripts, debugging custom code, or babysitting state transfers—we have news for you. We just launched the env zero Migration Wizard. 🪄 Most TFC migrations are notoriously complex, requiring teams to manually recreate workspaces, map variables, and carefully move state files without breaking workflows. Our new wizard changes the game by automating the heavy lifting: ✅ Zero One-Off Scripts: No need to write custom automation just to move your automation. ✅ No Custom Code: The wizard natively scans your TFC organization and recreates it in env zero. ✅ No Heavy Hand-Holding: Variables, state, and project hierarchies are transferred automatically. ✅ Controlled Cutover: Lock TFC workspaces and activate env zero only when you’re ready, ensuring zero deployment conflicts. Whether you're managing 10 workspaces or 1000+, you can now map your entire TFC setup to env zero in a matter of minutes, not weeks. Stop wrestling with migration logic and get back to shipping infrastructure. “It took 5 minutes to solve what we couldn’t for years.” Relay Network’s DevOps team didn’t need another tool that just flagged issues. They needed a fix for legacy IAM, SCP sprawl, and permissions chaos across AWS. With the Cloud Permissions Firewall, they: ✅ Disabled unused AWS regions ✅ Quarantined zombie resources ✅ Cleaned up years of policy sprawl in minutes 🌐 Hear it straight from Brendan Putek, Director of DevOps at Relay Network: https://lnkd.in/egw7MWkg Sonrai Security → 🤯 One-click least privilege. 😁 Zero disruption.

🚀 Day 9 of #100DaysOfDevOps – MariaDB Troubleshooting 🐬💥 Today’s challenge was a critical one — the Nautilus application in Stratos DC couldn’t connect to the database. After investigation, the issue turned out to be that the MariaDB service was down on the database server. 🔍 I approached it methodically: SSH’d into the DB server and confirmed that mariadb was inactive. Checked the logs via: journalctl -xeu mariadb Identified that the root cause was either: Missing or misconfigured data directory (/var/lib/mysql) Or permission issues with /run/mariadb 🔧 Solution: Recreated the missing mysql data directory Set correct permissions: chown mysql:mysql /run/mariadb systemctl restart mariadb Check the result with: mysql -u root ✅ Result: MariaDB is back online, and the application can connect again smoothly. 📘 This was a great hands-on exercise in real-world database recovery and service troubleshooting — skills every DevOps engineer must have! #DevOps #MariaDB #Linux #SystemAdministration #Troubleshooting #KodeKloud #100DaysOfDevOps #LearningByDoing #DatabaseRecovery

We built K8SOPZ to eliminate the "observability tax" that comes with scaling Kubernetes. We’re moving beyond basic monitoring into unified cluster control. We’ve consolidated the entire K8s lifecycle into one intuitive dashboard. No more context-switching, no more "black boxes." 🔍 Full-Stack Visibility: See everything from the control plane to the worker nodes in one place. 🏥 Instant Health Checks: Visualize your fleet’s state. Catch pending pods and node pressure before they become outages. 🪵 Deep Pod Observability: Logs, events, and resource metrics are just a click away. No terminal required. 💰 Intelligent Autoscaling: Keep a pulse on HPA and VPA events. Scale up for performance, scale down for your budget. K8SOPZ isn't just another dashboard—it's the operational layer that turns "infrastructure as code" into "infrastructure as insight." Ready to simplify your Ops? Check out K8SOPZ today. #Kubernetes #DevOps #SRE #CloudNative #K8SOPZ #PlatformEngineering

One of the most expensive mistakes in federal cloud programs: rebuilding the same infrastructure patterns from scratch for every new system.\n\nIt's slower. It's inconsistent. And it introduces compliance variance that creates real problems at ATO time.\n\nThe solution is a Terraform module library built for federal cloud environments — where every module encodes not just infrastructure configuration, but the compliance guardrails that come with it.\n\nHow we structure reusable Terraform modules for federal programs:\n\nCompliance encoded at the module level\nEach module includes the controls it satisfies. An S3 module doesn't just create a bucket — it enforces versioning, encryption, access logging, and public access blocking. The compliance posture is a byproduct of using the module correctly.\n\nEnvironment parity without duplication\nDev, staging, and prod environments consume the same modules with different variable sets. Infrastructure drift between environments isn't a risk — it's architecturally prevented. When a control requirement changes, it changes in one place and propagates everywhere.\n\nVersion-pinned, auditable module sources\nModules reference specific versions, not latest. Every module version is tagged, tested, and documented. When an assessor asks what changed between ATO cycles, the answer is in the version history — not someone's memory.\n\nState isolation by boundary\nAccount-per-environment, workspace-per-system, remote state with cross-account access controls. State files are encrypted at rest, access-logged, and version-controlled. Blast radius is scoped, not organization-wide.\n\nPre-deploy policy validation\nBefore any plan applies, OPA/Conftest validates that the configuration satisfies the module's compliance baseline. Misconfigured deployments are rejected before they reach the environment.\n\nThe result: a federal cloud program where every new system starts from a compliant baseline — and the path from zero to ATO-ready is measured in weeks, not quarters.\n\nRead our Terraform module architecture guide → https://lnkd.in/gY3kt6mY #IaC #FederalCloud #CloudSecurity #DevSecOps
