The operational data layer for the physical world

We started in 2015 building an IoT platform. Machine data arrived continuously, from sensors we didn’t control, at volumes that kept growing. Every database forced a choice: reliable transactions or time-series scale. Splitting the two meant more infrastructure, more pipelines, and more ways for the data to disagree with itself.

So we chose Postgres. Boring, reliable, and endlessly extensible, it was the foundation we could trust. Then we built TimescaleDB so Postgres could handle machine data at scale. Today, thousands of companies run their operations on one Postgres that holds live readings and the asset, customer, and maintenance records that explain them. Tiger Cloud runs it managed, TimescaleDB Enterprise runs it on the plant floor, and TimescaleDB stays open source at the core.

Machines already outnumber people on the internet, and agents are joining them. Whatever gets built next will run on live, correct data about the physical world. We’re building the database for that. Come join us.
